5 Yard Showdown, Points Make Prizes. Week 2

5 Yard Showdown, Points Make Prizes. Week 2

And just like that, we are through our second week of the 5 Yard showdown. It was Week 3 of the college football season, with more teams in action and more teams on byes. This made for some more interesting decisions for our GMs.

There were a number of College Vs Rush matchups; last week’s top scorer Stocks matched up with Jack, Ash faced off against Phil, Matt went up against Oli and finally Mark pitting himself against Jamie.

Elsewhere, the Rush team went up against each other in the shape of Murf Vs Englishman’s NFL and finally Sam & Tom went one on one between the college boys, the 2nd game in a row against a fellow college team mate for the pair.

Through two weeks we have a total of four teams sitting undefeated at 2-0 and four teams at 0-2.

Interesting Choices

Mark of Team College went for the bold draft strategy of picking most of his roster who are with programs not currently active. 12 of his players are part of Big Ten & Pac 12 programs. Week three was one to forget for him as he failed to start a single player due to bye weeks.

His opponent of week two Jamie only had one active player available but was enough to see off Mark with a total of 11 points.

What a thrilling 11-0 match up!

Interdivisional Matchups

The solo Team College match up in the 5 Yard Showdown saw Sam go up against my co-host Tom. Despite not having a 2nd QB Tom was able to come out on top 88-73 over Sam who did not have the number one overall pick Sam Ehlinger to fall back on this week.

The single Team Rush match up saw Murf & his Gators or Traitors go up against the Englishman’s NFL. It was an easy win for Murf as Englishman was only able to find two players to Murfs seven due to bye weeks. Murf ran out 102.7-12.7 winners.

Team Rush come out on top

It was so nearly a clean sweep for Team Rush in the four matchups, with Team College only being saved by top scorer on the week Ash.

Team Stocks continued his early domination with a 84-39.5 win against Jack, largely thanks to Louisville pairing QB Micale Cunningham & WR Tutu Atwell combining for 62 points.

Team Oli overcame Team Matt 67.9-61.55 despite his starting Syracuse QB Tommy DeVito scoring -2.5 Points. Matt came so close with only 5 active players. He must be kicking himself, as a full lineup would have almost certainly seen him win.

Ash saved Team College from a clean sweep with the top scoring performance of the week in the 141.85-38.05 victory over Phil of Team Rush. Once again the standouts for Team Ash were Qb’s Trevor Lawrence of Clemson & D’Eriq King of Miami combining for 67 points.

Team Rush 3-1 Team College

Top Scoring Team: Team Ash/Addicted2FF (141.85 Points)

Top Scoring Player: D’Eriq King, QB, Miami (35.15 Points)
