5 YARD SHOWDOWN: WEEK 11 UPDATE

5 YARD SHOWDOWN: WEEK 11 UPDATE

Welcome in to the 5 Yard Showdown: Week 11 Update and the final week of the College Football fantasy season. There were some big matchups which decided who made it into the Playoffs and who’s season was over. Who out of the Team College & Team Rush representatives grabbed that final spot.

With Jack holding the number one spot and a 2 game cushion it came down to a number of teams fighting for the final 3 playoff spaces and a chance for their fantasy season to continue.

Playoff Confirmed?

Team Murf Vs Team Sam

Murf entered the final week almost guaranteed a spot in the playoffs after his impressive season and would have needed a number of factors to go against him for him to miss out. That would not be the case as Murf managed to see off Sam in a high scoring affair that finished Murf 149.9 – Sam 110.4 and sure up the #3 spot for Murf in the college fantasy playoffs.

Murf had a number of high scoring players this week to count on but none moreso than Rutgers wide receiver Bo Melton who for 150 yards & 2 scores off 5 receptions giving him 32 points on the week alongside an almost impressive 27.7 points from South Carolina WR Shi Smith.

Sam’s score looked a lot more flattering thanks to an unbelievable score of 53.65 from Wake Forest QB Sam Hartman who 4 touchdowns and a rushing touchdown on Saturday. unfortunately for Sam the rest of his line up did not even score enough combined compared to the 53.65 of Hartman and saw him on the losing end this week and finishing 10th in the final standings.

Team Mark Vs Team Stocks

Stocks was on track to make the playoffs before this game began after 4 straight wins coming into week 11 and the second highest scoring team in the league. He came up against Mark who had a torrid season due to injuries and opts out and this one became an easy win for Stocks. Mark only fielded 3 fit players on the day and Stocks ran out 148.55 – 39.3 winner.

The standout performer for Stocks this week was Wake Forest WR Jaqcuarii Roberson who went 167 yards and 2 touchdowns off 12 receptions and scored an impressive 40.7 points, enough to beat Mark on his own in this match up.

With this win Stocks confirmed #2 seed in the play offs and Mark ended the season second from bottom in 11th.

Team Ollie Vs Team Ash

One of the most exciting matchups of the week involved two Team College members Ollie & Ash who both had great starts to the season before Ash’s mid season slump. On the flip side Ollie had endured a torrid time over recent weeks meaning a win for Ash would see him leapfrog Ollie and take the number 4 spot. This game ended up being winners takes all in the final standings. Ash was able to overcome Ollie with a 100.45 – 74 victory.

Both Ash & Ollie had issues in their line-ups due to the amount of postponements we saw in week 11. Quarterback D’Eriq King performed for Ash once again ending the day on 26.25 points and guided Ash to the decisive victory.

Ollie will be kicking himself for leaving Notre Dame WR Ben Skowronek on the bench and the 29.3 points he would have provided and would have been enough to give him the victory.

Best of the Rest

Team Jack Vs Team Mark

The two highest scoring teams of the week faced each other in the form of Team Jack & Team Mark. Unsurprising the top team and highest scoring team in the league Jack scored the most points of the week. Mark took him close in this one with the second highest score in week 11. Jack came out the winner 196.05 – 160.3.

Both teams had players score 40+ points. Team Marks top performer was North Carolina QB Sam Howell who had 550 yards and 6 touchdowns plus 1 rushing touchdown. Which gave him the top individual score of the week with 68.6.

Jack on the other hand had Howells running back Kevin Harris who went for an unbelievable 243 yards and 5 rushing touchdowns to score 54.3 points. Ian Books the Notre Dame quarterback also got into the scoring frenzy for Jack with 46.65 points by going for 283 yards and 3 touchdowns whilst adding 1 rushing touchdown.

Can Jack continue his dominate scoring heading into the playoffs?

Team Ben Vs Team Phil

Phil may have finished bottom of the league but he ended his season on a high with this win against Ben. Ben was only able to field 4 players due to various injuries, opt outs, byes and postponements. Phil was able to win this matchup 99.35 – 33.5.

This was a team effort for Phil with 3 of his team scoring over 20 points. Including his top scorer North Carolina RB Michael Carter who put up 22.9 points.

On the flip side only one of Ben’s team were able to score over 10 points. This was Mississippi RB Snoop Conner who provided 13.2 points.

Team Jamie Vs Team Tom

Last but not least was the match up involving Jamie & 5 Yard College co-host Tom who were involved in a high scoring close affair which Tom was won 143.05 – 133.95 although Jamie left Mississippi quarterback Matt Corral on the bench who scored 57.65 points and would have made this an easy win for Jamie.

Jamie also had Kyle Trask who had a standout day for Florida with 356 yards and 6 touchdowns and scored 54.6 points & Mississippi WR Elijah Moore who scored 52 points on the day but it was not enough to overcome Tom.

Tom’s scoring was more evenly distributed across the whole of his team. The standout for Tom’s team on the day was North Carolina WR Dyami Brown. He went for 163 yards and 2 touchdowns scoring 36.3 points.

Tom may have got the win on the day. Unfortunately it was not enough for him to push to back into the Playoffs and ending his season.
