BIG 12 Quick Snap Week 6
BIG 12 Quick Snap Week 6
There’s only one ranked matchup between two BIG 12 teams this week and it isn’t Texas and Oklahoma. IT’S KANSAS and TCU BABY!! Not only that, but we are going there for ESPN College GameDay. Lance Leipold just elevated himself to God-like status amongst Jayhawks fans. It’ll be sad when he leaves for the Arizona State job.
(17) TCU @ (19) Kansas
The Jayhawks are 5-0 and absolutely rolling! They are ridiculously fun to watch and if you don’t want to see a program that has just 5 wins since 2019 get their glorious moment in the sunlight, then go watch baseball. Plus, there are DUDES on both sides of the ball. Both RB’s have nearly 400 yards each and share 9 scores between them. Miller for TCU and Neal for KU both have explosive capabilities and are well worth a watch. Max Duggan and Jaylon Daniels both deserve a mention for leading their teams to 4-0 and 5-0, respectively. As a college football > everything, guy, I couldn’t be happier at these smaller (football) schools getting their turn in the limelight.
Texas v Oklahoma
The BIG 12 game of lesser importance (wow it feels good to write that). OU takes on Texas in the Cotton Bowl in a game that could spell trouble for either coach if they get blown out. OU has recently lost two on the bounce whereas Texas simply hasn’t looked convincing. We could see the return of QB Quinn Ewers for the Longhorns. Sark is praying it happens, whilst OU’s defence is praying it doesn’t. Last week Max Duggan hung 41 on OU in the first half in their 55-24 blow-out win. Ewers could easily do the same if he’s healthy.
Texas Tech @ (7) Oklahoma State
Mike Gundy’s ability to have this team competitive, adaptable and ready year in, year out isn’t something we talk about enough in this sport. Ok State have played their way to 7th in the AP poll behind solid play from QB Spencer Sanders. Texas Tech have looked better than a team should look with a first year head coach. The way Joey McGuire gets his teams ready, don’t be surprised if the upset is on the cards going into the fourth. If I had money (I don’t) it would be on Gundy’s Cowboys.
Kansas State @ Iowa State
Matt Campbell’s Cyclones have dropped off a bit this year. Whilst they have the incredibly talented WR Xavier Hutchinson who has 504-5 already this season, results have taken a step back. Kansas State, on the other hand, are coming off very solid wins against Oklahoma and Texas Tech. I think this could be a sneaky close game that could come down to the final possession. Also, Deuce Vaughn. Always tune in for Deuce Vaughn if you can.
