College Fantasy Football – A Winner Takes The Crown
College Fantasy Football – A Winner Takes The Crown
After 12 weeks of ups, downs, postponed games and website issues we have finally reached the grand final of the College Fantasy Football showdown. The two most impressive teams of the year went head to head in not only the championship game but the final Team Rush Vs Team College showdown.
Join Ash as he breaks down the final matchup between Jack & Stocks and which walked away the victor for the final time.
Team Jack
Jack came into the matchup as the clear favourite among the majority of the league with the most points scored in the Semis and hitting multiple 200+ scores throughout the season.
Both teams saw Covid postponements once again and rushed to make the changes ahead of game time. Jack stuck true with a number of his big stars who got him to this position.
Notre Dame QB Ian Books contributed 24.75 points on the day with 279 yards & 1 touchdown in the 31-17 victory over UNC. Texas A&M RB Isiah Spiller finished the day on 23.8 points after rushing for 141 yards and 1 touchdown in the Texas win over LSU.
Jack left one of his most valued players of the season Deuce Vaughn and his 27.1 points in the close fought victory for Kansas over Baylor. Vaughn was not the biggest guy sitting on the bench however and could have proved to be the difference maker if he started, that man was Erik Ezukanma. The Texas Tech wide receiver was actually the top scorer across both teams with 37.3 after his 183 yard & 2 touchdowns against Oklahoma despite the loss.
Jack ended the day with 131.6 points & 102 points on the bench, usually the bench doesn’t make much of a difference but with under 5 points in the flex spots and the two guys previously mentioned on Jacks bench it proved to be a major factor in this match up.
Team Stocks
Stocks came in as the underdog by many in this game, none more so than Tom who was bullish on Jacks upcoming victory. This was surely fuel to the fire for Stocks who came out swinging.
The key performers for Stocks in the grand final were 3 men who contributed 103 points between them. The top performer of the day for Stocks was Louisville quarterback Malik Cunningham with 37 points following 294 yards and 2 touchdowns. A close second for Stocks was Notre Dame RB Kyren Williams who scored 36.4 points with his 124 yards & 2 rushing TD’s & 1 receiving TD.
The final key man in Stocks team was Clemson WR Cornell Powell with 29.6 points against Pitt. He provided 176 yards and 1 touchdown from 6 receptions on the 52-17 victory.
If I told you Stocks started a quarterback involved in a blowout and still won the championship would you believe me? Well that was the case as due to postponed & cancelled fixtures throughout College football he was forced to play Vanderbilt quarterback Ken Seals who contributed 4.95 points with his 79 passing yards.
Stocks finished the day with 157.45 points and took home the inaugural 5 Yard Rush College Fantasy Football Showdown!
We will of course be back next year with the 2nd season and some fresh faces on both sides. Let’s hope that Team College can come back stronger and take home the crown.
