Dynasty Buys & Sells – Week 1
Hey guys, welcome to my new in-season article. In this series, I’m going to be looking at which players we recommend you buy and which players are optimum to sell each week from a dynasty perspective. For the first week, I’m going to pick two buys and two sells. Starting from next week, I’ll pick one and I’ll be inviting one of the 5 Yard Dynasty crew to pick the other so that we are able to get some different opinions and players. Week 1 was a bit of a crazy show with some of the top players blowing it up – such as the likes of Jefferson and Barkley. Some scored very little, such as Aaron Rodgers and Alvin Kamara.
After week one, some of you may be wondering ‘am I a contender?’ Others may be thinking ‘am I going to blow it up?’ Well, don’t make that decision just yet, as week one never decides the champion! Please see the values in these players, the players you sell could turn into future picks, buys are more for contenders to go out and add strength to your team.
BUYS
CEEDEE LAMB
This may be a bit of a shock choosing such a high value as a buy especially after coming into this season Ceedee Lamb was my dynasty WR3. He was attached to my dynasty QB6 and was looking like he could set the world alight in what was predicted to be a great season for him. Week 1 was the complete opposite of what every Lamb owner had in mind for him – with only 2 receptions from 11 targets 29 yards and 0 TDS he did manage to play on 97% of snaps and with his star QB going down and looking like he will miss 6-8 weeks this was a tough night all round for cowboys in general. So, for me, Lamb’s value will drop. He has dropped into the tier below which may not seem massive, but it’s enough to try and buy low while managers are still struggling with what to do with him.
CHRISTIAN KIRK
Kirk was one of the players coming into this season with a big question mark over his head: can he perform at the Jags? Can he be a WR1 in the team? Can he live up to his mega contract? Well, personally, I think he smashed it this week – playing in 91% of snaps, demanding 12 targets, bringing in 6 receptions for 117 yards. The only thing missing from this game was a TD for him and it would have made it perfect. Lawrence started the season well having his 4th highest yardage in his NFL career and his second highest since week 6 of 2021. The Jags are mid rebuild and have given Lawrence weapons, so why not take the WR1 in this team. Kirk has an ADP of WR51 in August and that is a steal for me and after this week finished as WR19 overall. While he is still cheap, go and buy him.
Honourable Buy Mentions
- QB – Davis Mills
- RB – Khalil Herbert

SELLS
DEVIN DUVERNAY
You need to sell him so quickly that the seat on your bench doesn’t even have a chance to get warm. This is a flash in the pan and you may go the rest of the reason without seeing him get into double digits fantasy points. So, take advantage of the big week and try and flip him. You could package him and a pick in order to get a better one. Duvernay was only on the field for 52% of snaps, so he is clearly not a big part of the offense, unlike Bateman who was on for 66% and Andrews who had even longer with 84%. Duvernay also only received four targets and managed two touchdowns in those, so I expect some touchdown regression going forward. Without the touchdowns, we would not even be talking about him.
JAMAAL WILLIAMS
Williams has had a similar week to Duvernay – without his two touchdowns, this was not a significant game. He played 35% of snaps and saw a lot of goal-line work, which, as a Swift owner, was a bit frustrating. However, if you can sell based on that flash in the pan week, then do it as I can not see him being a 1B to Swift every week. While Williams did look good on the ball, I still think Swift looked better. It might be worth mentioning the point that if Swift got injured, Williams’ value would shoot through the roof.
