Dynasty Week 3 Buys and Sells
Hey guys! I hope you have all recovered from the drama of week 3, with players turning up who have been quiet up until now – such as the Titans offence – and big names being kept quiet like Jefferson. Some big injuries to report – Swift (looking like he will return after bye week 6), Shepard (looks to be ACL, so out all season) and Mac Jones (high ankle sprain) are the serious ones who are all looking to miss time.
All that being said, I am here to help with ways to help you build your team to make a charge and also get ready for 2023. I have a team that I have gone 0-3 and have Najee Harris, Swift and Dobbins at RB. I managed to flip Dobbins and 2024 2nd for a 23 1st and a mid ’23 3rd, so these are the types of moves you need to be making now. The opposite of this trade is a team that is 2-1 who is pushing for the championship and bolstering their RB room. This week, I have roped Liam (@theFSAtweets) in to give us a his dynasty buys and sells alongside mine.
BUYS
2022 ROOKIES
Liam has gone for a few players because he’s greedy like that; he has mentioned that some rookies who we all spent high picks on have yet to make an impact. For example: Skyy Moore, Christian Watson, Kenneth Walker III and even Breece Hall – these players are yet to make an return on the early round picks that were spent on them, so try and take advantage of people who may be panicking and looking for a quick sell!
Liam suggested a low end vet (Tyler Boyd maybe?) and a 2nd or a 3rd should get some deals done.
Paul’s values:
● Moore and Watson – I would pay a 23 2nd
● Walker III – I would pay Michael Carter and a 23 2nd
● Hall – I would pay a 23 1st
KHALIL HERBERT
Herbert is flying high at the moment after going supernova in week 3 with 157 yards and 2 TDs. Montgomery exited with a knee/ankle injury and with the Bears camp saying he is day-day, Herbert is a solid buy candidate this week. Yeah, his value may have increased a bit like he did last week, but I genuinely think this is his backfield next year. With Montgomery a UFA in 23 and the Bears having so many other positions to focus on, they won’t be looking at the RB position.
When Montgomery has been injured, Herbert has proven that he can maintain the 3 down workload. In the 4 games last season, he managed 344 yards and 1 TD with an average of 5.2 YPC.
I would try someone like Mike Gesicki and a 23 2nd for Herbert.
Honourable Buy Mentions
- QB Zach Wilson
- RB Jamaal Williams
- WR Chris Olave
- TE Tyler Conklin
SELLS
CLYDE EDWARDS-HELAIRE
Liam is trying to sell CEH because he is seeing that he is splitting the backfield with McKinnon. Just like in week 3, CEH had a 40% snap share, 7 ATT for 0 rushing yards and a TD. He did have 5 receptions for 39 yards however. McKinnon saw 52% of the teams snaps, 7 ATT for 20 yard and 1 target. CEH needs to gain complete control of this backfield for him to be truly elite.
Liam: Liam would sell for 2x 2nds but says he would smash the accept button if he received a ’23 1st for CEH and a 2nd.
Paul: I am so much higher on CEH as he is my guy this year, so I would only sell for a 1st.
CHASE EDMONDS
This is a bit of a random one, for sure, but when you look at Edmonds’ stats they are not blowing me out of the water. I think the fact that he is on the Dolphins team and has just come off his best week yet this season, he is worth trying to see what you can get for him. So, let’s look at him from a statistical point of view: 23 ATT for 79 yards and 2TD, 8 targets, 6 receptions for 54 yards. Yes, this is over 3 games so these are not great numbers. Edmonds has never been a lead back in any of the 5 years he has been in the NFL and it doesn’t look like he is going to be at the Dolphins either. Another mark against Edmonds is that he is 26 and we all know what happens to these 26 year old RBs (apart from King Henry) – they fall off a cliff.
I would be happy selling Chase Edmunds and a 23 3rd for CEH (my guy).
Honourable Sell Mentions
- QB Brian Hoyer (SF only)
- RB Tony Pollard
- WR Tyler Boyd
- TE Jelani Woods
