Dynasty Waiver Wire – Playoffs
It’s playoff time! Whilst it’s hard to imagine being in a position to rely on a waiver pickup in the playoffs with the way covid is ripping through the league it could well be needed. (ownership percentages are from Sleeper):
Shallower Leagues
Tyler Huntley – QB – Baltimore Ravens – 20%
Whilst the news out of Baltimore is that Lamar avoided the dreaded high ankle sprain. He is therefore likely to return this week. Personally, I’m still adding Huntley. In SuperFlex leagues he absolutely needs to be rostered. Any starting QB with Huntley rushing upside will be a QB2 at least. If you’re in the playoffs without Lamar you can do a lot worse than Huntley as a backup.
Justin Jackson – RB – Los Angeles Chargers – 38%
It feels like the week of covid and ankle injuries. Austin Ekeler re-aggravated his ankle. He didn’t return to the game although Staley suggested he could have returned. With the Chargers on a short week playing Thursday night against the Chiefs Jackson needs to be rostered. If Ekeler can’t go Jackson will likely settle in as a really solid flex play. He could even enter that conversation if Ekeler is limited and sees a reduced workload. Jackson could be a sneaky add heading into the playoffs.
Deeper Leagues
Royce Freeman – RB – Houston Texans – 18%
David Johnson was out with Covid. Rex Burkhead left last week’s game with a groin injury. Philip Lindsay was released. Scottie Phillips is on IR. So next man up is (checks depth chart) Royce Freeman who after spells with the Broncos and Panthers is now on the Texans. It’s not exactly a sexy offence to have a piece of but if everyone else is out Freeman could see a decent workload. Did I mention the Texans are playing the Jaguars on Sunday as well…
Duke Johnson – RB – Miami Dolphins – 9%
Another team has been hit by the covid bug. Currently, every Running Back in Miami is on the Covid list so they have promoted Duke Johnson to the active roster. Now it is likely Myles Gaskin clears and is active this Sunday but if he suffers a delay Duke could be the feature back in Miami. Oh, and they’re playing the Jets whose defence can’t stop any running backs through the air or on the ground!
Wayne Gallman – RB – Minnesota Vikings – 27%
Wayne Gallman was claimed off waivers by the Vikings yesterday. This was the corresponding move after Alexander Mattison moved to the Covid list. Now it is likely that Dalvin Cook will see all the work this week and Gallman is just a backup. However, Cook isn’t exactly the picture of health nursing his dislocated shoulder so I would absolutely be adding Gallman if I have a spare roster spot.
