Dynasty Waiver Wire – Week 8
Welcome to the week 7 dynasty waiver wire! Are you wondering who to put waiver claims in for? I’m here to give you some names, and a little food for thought, of who your dynasty pickups should be this week. As always, all rostership numbers are from Sleeper.
DeAndre Carter – WR – Los Angeles Chargers – 42%
One Chargers receiver comes back in Keenan Allen, another goes down. Mike Williams reportedly has a high ankle sprain, so load up DeAndre Carter again. Carter stepped in for a few games while Keenan Allen was now, so he seems like the obvious option to take up extra work in Williams’s absence. He hasn’t had many big weeks as yet. If he can stay on the field for most plays – like he did in week 7 – then he should be good with a decent floor for production going forward.
Harrison Bryant – TE – Cleveland Browns – 29% rostered
This is Bryant’s chance, right now! I feel like I’ve been high on Bryant for a good amount of time. The John Mackey award winning tight end is the clear lead TE in the 2-5 week absence of David Njoku. He has always found himself vying for snaps and targets in the past, mainly with Njoku and formerly Austin Hooper. This is his chance. He has to outplay Pharaoh Brown – who is also injured – and then he needs to capitalise on his targets. But he has the talent and this could be the moment where he becomes what many hoped he could be.
Equanimeous St Brown – WR – Chicago Bears – 27% rostered
Last week I took a huge punt on the deep threat of Dante Pettis becoming an option. In week 7, this didn’t really materialise. Yet the Bears receiving corps is where we find ourselves again, on Monday Night Football Equanimeous (which I now know how to spell without cheating) had a usable evening converting his seven targets into four catches and 48 yards. It’s not much at this stage but as Fields continues to develop we are seeing him pass the ball more and as such a second WR option could appear. In weeks 1-3, Fields was averaging around 100 passing yards. But in weeks 5-7 he is around 200. If you need any more convincing, just remember he is the Son of Mr Universe! Yep, that’s done it.
Sam Ehlinger – QB – Indianapolis Colts – 20% rostered
An obvious first one here, but it’s rare a team makes a transition at Quarterback like the Colts have done with Matt Ryan. You would think there is some substance to this combined with the subsequent decision for Ehlinger to become the starter over Nick Foles. These bye weeks are hard to navigate in SuperFlex leagues. With Ehlinger, will get a fill for that with a player that also has a shot at the starting role. In the year of Geno, who knows!
JaMycal Hasty – RB – Jacksonville Jaguars – 12% rostered
With James Robinson off to the Jets it could open the door for Hasty to see an uptick in usage as the RB2 in Jacksonville. He’s worth a bench stash to see how they use him in the next couple of games. Hasty was utilised mainly as passing down back with the Niners, making 23 catches from 29 targets in 2021. However, the situation here will be different and depends on Travis Etienne’s role with Robinson out of the picture.
Nick Foles – QB – Indianapolis Colts – 8% rostered
Would we be that surprised if Nick Foles won this starting role until the end of the season if Ehlinger doesn’t work out? He’s worth a pickup from your dynasty waiver wires in lieu of one of the backups in more stable lead QB situations if you have the space.
