Dynasty Waiver Wire – Week 9
Welcome to the week 9 dynasty waiver wire. It’s the trade deadline week! Even though this week has not provided many name for us to pick up, there is still time for some names to arise. Remember to keep an eye on the trade news. I hope there will be some trades which will create a shift in the dynasty landscape. As always, all rostership numbers are from Sleeper.
Caleb Huntley – RB – Atlanta Falcons – 52% rostered
This backfield is still open for Huntley or Allgeier to grab whilst Cordarelle Patterson is out. Patterson could be back in the coming weeks but for now, it’s one of these two. Huntley recorded 92 yards off his 16 carries and his yards per rush were almost double that of Tyler Allgeier at 5.7 compared to 2.8, however, Huntley did not see any targets. Based on his efficiency this week he is worth a stash if he is available just in case he can win this lead-back role in Atlanta. He would be touchdown dependent as to if he will prove to be a reasonable flex play for the coming weeks.
PJ Walker – QB – Carolina Panthers – 51% rostered
At 51%, it’s likely that in SuperFlex leagues PJ is not available in many of them. But his recent 70 odd yard bomb to DJ Moore was described by Patrick Mahomes as “the best throw of this year and not even close” and putting up 15+ points in the last two weeks now he is someone who can fill in for the bye weeks. The Panthers needed a spark and have seemingly given up on the 2022 season after this horror show of a loss. They might just let PJ Walker keep the job for the rest of the season, to see how he does. Grab him in your dynasty pickups this week if you can.
DeAndre Carter – WR – Los Angeles Chargers – 41% rostered
With Mike Williams out and Keenan Allen still not practicing regularly, DeAndre Carter could be in for extra work in week 9. He has shown, when trusted, he can be a productive asset for your lineups. He will be one to grab if he is available in your dynasty leagues. Even if for only a few weeks.
Ronnie Rivers – RB – Los Angeles Rams – 23% rostered
This name cropped up in a few circles online on the weekend which caused his rostered % to sharply rise from around 5% to 23%. However he is still available in many leagues. This Rams backfield (and whole offense) is a mess right now. They were linked with Christian McCaffrey, then Darrell Henderson is not quite the bell cow back up most were hoping him to be when Cam Akers went off grid. Kyren Williams is also still on Injured Reserve (IR). So here we have the next guy up: Ronnie Rivers. He didn’t show great efficiency gaining 21 yards from his 8 rushes in week 8. However he did add four catches for 15 yards which gave him a reasonable PPR score of 7.6 points. He’s worth a grab to see how this situation progresses for now.
Kalif Raymond – WR – Detroit Lions – 23% rostered
This time last week I considered writing up Raymond, then I looked at the depth chart and took Jameson Williams into consideration. Now I will admit: I was wrong to leave him out. For now, he is the Lions deep threat and hauled in a couple of big grabs to give a total of 10.6 PPR points in week 8. His rostership was at 10% last week which meant he was available in most leagues, but at 23% he still has good availability in leagues. He is seemingly becoming the 2nd WR to play for the Lions
Demarcus Robinson – WR – Baltimore Ravens – 21% rostered
With Rashod Bateman out for a couple of weeks, Robinson should see more playing time. On Thursday Robinson caught six catches from eight targets for 64 yards. He wasn’t on the field as much as we’d like to see, but could still be a player to utilise in a pinch with bye weeks hitting hard in week 9 for many squads. Temper expectations on him, but I would be hopeful for him to give you a double digit PPR score in week 9. I don’t love the long term prospect but the question of who will be the WR1 is still wide open on this team so maybe there is a ceiling play in here.
