IDP FINDS: Deck the Hall(s)- WEEK 7

Howdy Rush Nation, welcome back to my Individual Defensive Player (IDP) arcadia. My name is Mason, and my job is to find you the top defensive fantasy streamers of the week. Only but one rule applies around these parts: each player discussed will be rostered by no more than twenty percent of fantasy managers (via Yahoo).

Last week, my player’s overall combined point total was 34.37, finishing just over their projections. (31.05) With week 6 in the rear-view mirror, let’s go on ahead without wasting any time and get an early dive on some players sure to give you that extra edge this week on the defensive side of your fantasy lineup in week 7. Time to deck the Hall(s).

DEFENSIVE LINEMAN

P.J. Hall- Houston Texans-1% Rostered- VS GB (2.0 proj)

Hall has been under the radar all year, it seems, finishing above projections in all but one contest this year while at least doubling his projected score three times this season. Look for Hall to rack up the tackles against a rattled Green Bay offence. Even if the Pack runs away with this one, I expect Hall to have a stellar statistical outing.

Isaiah Mack- Tennessee Titans- 0% Rostered- VS PIT (1.97 proj)

Although Isaiah has yet to cap over 40% of defensive snaps in a single game this year, Pittsburgh is currently second in an average time of possession per game. That means long drives and more opportunity for Mack to excel past his dismal two-point projection.

LINEBACKERS

Cole Holcomb- Washington Football Team- 0% Rostered- VS DAL (5.06 proj)

While returning from a four-week knee injury, Holcomb answered the call last week, totalling five solo tackles as well as one for a loss. Look for Cole on Sunday as he has a favourable matchup against a bitter division rival in Dallas.

Malik Reed- Denver Broncos- 0% Rostered- at KC (2.11 proj)

Reed had an impressive outing totalling 12 fantasy points last week in Denver’s Week 6 upset of New England. (2 sacks, three solo tackles) His snap count increases every week and hit his highest of the year in week 6 (86% of defensive snaps). He will have a load of opportunity against the reigning Super Bowl champs this coming weekend.

DEFENSIVE BACKS

Tashaun Gipson Sr.- Chicago Bears- 2% Rostered- VS LAR (3.23 proj)

One of defensive fantasy’s best-kept secrets, Gipson has been crushing his projections for most of the year. Steady at around three points every week isn’t a lousy floor for someone averaging just over six and a half fantasy points per contest.

Adrian Phillips- New England Patriots- 5% Rostered- VS SF (5.96 proj)

Last week Phillips seemed to be everywhere the ball was, finishing with 11 combined tackles, two of which were for a loss. He has finished with six or more combined tackles in all but one contest this year, and his bye week has already passed.

ROOKIE WATCH

Javon Kinlaw – San Francisco 49ers – 1% Rostered- VS NE (2.46 proj)

Kinlaw has been slowly finding his groove on the overly banged-up 49ers defensive line, having yet to finish over his projection this season. The matchup against the Patriots is desirable as they have allowed eleven sacks on their quarterback this year.

That is all I have for this week; thank you again for reading. My total thus far this year is 31.05 projected points and 34.37 actual points. My line is always open; good luck in week seven, and happy streaming Rush Nation!
