IDP Streamers Week 12 – “Come on, Carl!”
Howdy Rush Nation, welcome back to my Individual Defensive Player (IDP) arcadia and my IDP Streamers Week 12 article. My name is Mason, and my job is to find you the top defensive fantasy streamers of the week. Only but one rule applies around these parts: each player discussed will be rostered by no more than twenty percent of fantasy managers (via Yahoo).
Thursday Night Triangle
(DL)Da’Ron Payne- WAS @ DAL- 2% Rostered- (3.89 projection)
Payne is the lesser-known man among the beastly wall that is the front defensive seven of the Washington Football Team. Even with all of the surrounding talent Payne is on the field more than any other Washington lineman. Cincinnati’s offensive line has allowed their quarterback to be sacked thirty-six times this season.
(LB)Reggie Ragland – DET vs HOU- 0% Rostered- (2.06 projection)
The Lions blitz just over twenty percent of defensive plays, and most of Ragland’s more prominent weeks are a direct result of his ability to hunt down the ball carrier behind the line of scrimmage. Houston is top-10 in the league at allowed sack percentage per passing play.
(DB)Cameron Sutton- PIT vs BAL- 0% Rostered- @ DEN (0.58 projection)
Sutton has seen an increase of timeshare in the secondary as the season has progressed. Although the Ravens aren’t known for their prolific passing, Cameron has three forced fumbles on the year and is no stranger to wrapping up the ball carrier as he has eighteen tackles and a sack on the year.
SUNDAY STREAMERS
(DL)Carl Lawson- CIN vs. NYG- 1% Rostered- (3.24 projection)
In 2020 Lawson has feasted on opposing NFC East offenses combining for seven solo tackles and three sacks. The Giants have allowed thirty-one sacks this season and are ranked thirtieth in total offense.
(DL)Carl Nassib- LV @ ATL- 0% Rostered- (4.04 projection)
Nassib is a player with a high motor who gives it his all until the whistle. He is also on the opposing side of team standout Maxx Crosby. This week, I see plenty of opportunities for Carl to disrupt Matt Ryan and make the most of his one on one matchup in the trenches this week.
(LB)Kyler Fackrell- NYG @ CIN- 1% Rostered- (2.59 projection)
I anticipate the Bengals will roll out a very mundane game plan, as they are without their QB1 for the year. With the second-highest snap count of any linebacker, Fackrell will have a handful of opportunities against a heavily wounded Cincinnati offense.
(LB)Damien Wilson –KC @ TB – 2% Rostered- (5.34 projection)
Wilson has forty tackles on the year and shares time as the number two linebacker for Kansas City. I expect Wilson to rack up the tackles this week as Tampa should aim to establish the run early as Kansas City is the seventh-worst team in defending the run this year.
(DB)Jarrod Wilson- JAC vs CLE – 0% Rostered- (5.46 projection)
The Browns run quite the balanced offense, and Wilson just so happens to be a balanced player. The defensive back has twenty tackles and an interception on the year; Jarrod is on the field just about every down for Jacksonville.
(DB)Taron Johnson – BUF vs. LAC – 4% Rostered- (3.44 projection)
Johnson has yet to post a score of under three points in a week this year. Most of his points come from his ability to seek out the ball carrier, fifty-one solo tackles on the year is outstanding from the fifth most active defensive back in Buffalo. Taron has proven his reliability as a consistent fantasy player and is a stellar play as any of my IDP Streamers Week 12.
REACHABLE ROOKIE
(DB)Damon Arnette – LV @ ATL – 1% Rostered – (5.85 projection)
Arnette is on just under eighty percent of all defensive plays and is coming off his best performance of the year. Atlanta throws the ball an average of forty-one times a game when they are at home, and the Raiders pressure the quarterback on twenty-one percent of all dropbacks.
MONDAY MACABRE
(DL)Derek Barnett – PHI vs. SEA – 2% Rostered- (4.54 projection)
Barnett has been getting after opposing quarterbacks this season and has 4.5 sacks to show for his efforts. Seattle’s offensive line is known for being among the worst in the league. Barnett is on the field just over forty snaps a game, despite being the third man in the rotation.
(LB)Alex Singleton – PHI vs SEA – 3% Rostered- (3.24 projection)
Singleton is a very leveled player and is useful in whatever task the weekly scheme requires of him. His best fantasy weeks have come when he faces a team with a bottom fifteen offensive line.
(DB)D.J. Reed Jr. – SEA @ DEN – 4% Rostered- (2.77 projection)
Reed did not see the field until week 8, yet he has forty-one fantasy points in just four games played. A steady tackler, D.J. is making the most of his opportunity and is emerging as the exact number three defensive back in Seattle.
That is all I have for this upcoming week; a thousand thank yous for reading. My line is always open; here’s to a successful IDP Streamers Week 12, and as always, happy streaming Rush Nation!
