IDP Streamers Week 16 -“Youth of the Nation”
Howdy Rush Nation, welcome back to my Individual Defensive Player (IDP) arcadia and my IDP Streamers Week 16 selections. My name is Mason, and my job is to find you the top defensive fantasy streamers of the week.
Only but one rule applies about the streamers: each player discussed will be rostered by no more than twenty percent of fantasy managers (via Yahoo).
YOU MADE IT; welcome to week 16… Now, Rush Nation, let’s get you that ship!!!
WEEKLY STREAMERS
(DL) D.J. Wonnum MIN @ NO – 0% Rostered- (1.28 projection)
The Vikings rookie on the defensive line saw almost seventy percent of snaps last week. I expect Wonnum’s opportunities to increase as the season comes to a close for Minnesota. D.J. is an old school wrap-up tackler off the edge, with three sacks and twelve solo tackles this season. The Saints have twenty-two rushing touchdowns on the year and are, again, playing without their number one receiver, so I like how Wonnum can also play coverage from the LOS and possibly affect the short passing game as well.
(DL) Charles Omenihu HOU vs. CIN – 0% Rostered- (3.11 projection)
While averaging thirty-two snaps per contest, Charles has three sacks on the year, and I would think the Texans are looking for some younger players to step up. The Bengals passed the ball a whopping twelve times last week due to their success in the running game, so I expect much of the same here. Omenihu is a forceful player in single-man matchups and has strong arms that enable him to strip the ball in the backfield.
(LB) Carter Coughlin NYG @ BAL – 1% Rostered- (0.00 projection)
“Hey, Mr. Carter(hello) Tell me, where have you been?” With a sudden jump in snaps, Coughlin has all of the upside in the world this week. More of a name to watch going forward; in his last two games, he has eight solo tackles and one for loss.
(LB) Harold Landry III TEN @ GB – 6% Rostered- (7.08 projection)
Tennessee is in a dogfight with the Colts for the AFC South’s throne, and I suspect the Titans want to send a message to the rest of the AFC / NFL. Finding a way to get to Rodgers would be a start; Landry has four and a half sacks this season and has been sent on blitz sixty eight times. Harold may be a targeted defender in the passing games as he allows an eighty-three percent completion rate in coverage; he has one interception on the year.
(DB) Donovan Wilson DAL vs. PHI – 1% Rostered- (5.82 projection)
Donovan has been nothing short but an ideal streamer this year. He has six games of over eight fantasy points. Hurts’ ability to be an explosive runner and big-play passer matches Wilson’s dual-threat ability to defend the run and pass. I expect another big game for Dallas’ best-kept secret.
(DB) Marcus Maye NYJ vs. CLE – 7% Rostered- (6.12 projection)
Maye has been a consistent fantasy option all season despite the Jets’ inability to win games. You are reading a guaranteed three points with an upside to around ten points.
REACHABLE ROOKIE
(DL) Yetur Gross-Matos CAR @ WAS – 5% Rostered- (3.73 projection)
I have wanted to highlight one of my favorite players on the Carolina defense for some time now. Matos has eight solo tackles, one forced fumble, and a sack and a half in ten games this season. Ever since week ten, Yetur has seen a massive increase in defensive snaps; I expect big things from Gross-Matos in the next two weeks.
PRIMETIME PLAYS
(LB) Matt Milano BUF @ NE – 6% Rostered- (8.19 projection)
New England is a rushing team with Newton behind center; Milano is a dual-threat linebacker who can change a game’s momentum in just a single play. The Bills have a plethora of talent at the linebacker position, so expect him to split time with Klein; I believe Milano is due for a big game before seasons end, and this matchup is too good to pass up.
(DB) Amani Oruwariye DET vs. TB – 0% Rostered- (1.83 projection)
Tampa Bay has the sixth most attempted passes this season with five-hundred and forty-three, and Amani has been very consistent this season, racking up tackles in every contest. Detroit isn’t known for their pass defense, so I expect Oruwariye to score big this week.
That is all I have for the IDP Streamers Week 16 edition; a thousand thank yous for reading and good luck in your final push to your fantasy playoffs. My line is always open, and I always welcome feedback of any sort! Here’s to week 16, and as always, happy streaming Rush Nation, now push onward and bring home the hardware!
