Marvin Jones, Detroit Wideout, second in the depth chart to Kenny Golladay. The man who is single-handedly ruining the Lockdown article whenever I select him for the column. Jones is going about his business with no fuss or showy flashes. We as a Fantasy community need to start giving him more respect. The fact he is never spoken of highly or even commented on is ludacris. He is currently the WR13 to this point of the season. If I asked you to rank the top 15, would you have said Jones was in there? Nope, me either.

In a week of bye nightmares, let’s have a look at how the week 10 selections got on starting with the aforementioned Jones.

Marvin Jones – Projected 7.36 – Actual 10.20

D.K, Metcalf – Projected 8.99 – Actual 7.0

Odell Beckham – Projected 8.41 – Actual 8.20

Of the three selections, it was just Jones that broke the mould. Beckham about broke even and D.K was just under. None of them blew up.

Results

Right Marvin, let’s get one thing straight. I’m sorry and I will think twice the next time I line you up for Lockdown. Jones had another good night against a bears team that got up early. The lions needed to throw the ball after being three scores down. He caught five of his six targets for a team-high 77 yards. since my boy Kerryon Johnson has been placed on IR, Jones has been going ham. The fact the Lions had to start back-up Quarterback Jeff Driskel didn’t seem to hurt Jones’s production. He is on pace for a 1000 yard season and is a viable Wide Receiver going forward.

D.K. Metcalf is doing everything right in his first season in the NFL. He had his highest target count of the season Monday night in the win against the 49ers. What a night he had. Had a fumble on the two-yard line. Became the team’s number one receiver in overtime with Lockett leaving the game with his leg injured. Metcalf was serviceable as a WR2 against the 9ers when I thought he wouldn’t be. He hauled in six of his ten targets for 70 yards. he has had at least nine looks in the last three games. Trending in the right direction and his value could be even higher if Lockett was to miss the game against the Eagles after their bye week.

OBJ was inefficient on his 12 targets against the bills. Beckham only caught five of his targets and notched up 57 yards. The fact Baker Mayfield and Beckham aren’t on the same page isn’t great. couple this with the fact that OBJ was shadowed all game by one of the best Corners in the game, Tre’Davious White. Odell has just one touchdown on his 44 receptions. Shocking. He gets a tough matchup this week against the Steelers in week 11.

Talking of week 11 here is this week’s selections.

Alshon Jeffery Vs The Patriots

This is mostly about Jeffery but with caveats. as of writing, this Jeffrey has missed two straight days of practice. If Jeffrey plays he will have huge bust potential as he will be shadowed by Lockdown Cornerback Stephen Gilmore. This is bad news all around. A banged-up Jeffrey against the stud Cornerback isn’t a good recipe at all. If Jeffrey doesn’t suit up against the Patriots the Eagles will funnel through their two good Tight Ends. The receiving corp will be rookie J JAW, Nelson Aglohor, Mack and Hollins. Not a frightening group of guys at all.

The Patriots will be reeling after the defeat by the Ravens before their bye week. Bill Belichick will have had time to plan for this game and will want to smash the Eagles after the Superbowl loss. They have still only allowed one receiving touchdown to opposing Wide Receivers. Carson Wentz hasn’t looked like his best self recently and abasing the Pats I can’t see a huge day for anybody in the Receiver room. The pats are giving up just 12.7 FPPG still through ten weeks. They are the definition of Lockdown. Start no Eagles if you can. If you must, then close those eyes and pray. Fantasy gods speed to you on this one.

Keenan Allen Vs The Chiefs

Kennan Allen has been poor of late. Since his blow-up week three where he scored 37 Fantasy points, he has only gone over ten Fantasy points once. That was last week against the Raiders when he scored just 12.6 Fantasy points. Whilst Allen has been poor for fantasy recently, he saw his best catches and yards tallies since week three. this is trending in the right direction. We should also note that Phillip Rivers is currently the leagues passing yardage leader. Positive regression should be coming for Allen but I’m not sure its this week. You would think that a week 11 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs would be a good thing. However, it isn’t a great one.

Andy Reid’s men are currently 4th in the League against Wide Receivers for Fantasy points allowed to the position. They are allowing just 18.2 FPPG to the opposing wideouts. This isn’t what you think of when you think of the Chiefs defence. This is in part to the fact that the Chiefs are horrendous in protecting the run. They are the leagues worst team against the run giving up 25.4 FPPG to the position. With one of the leagues, best backfield duos in Melvin Gordon and Austin Eckler the Chargers should exploit this weakness. This is why Allen is in the Lockdown article this week. Even if it gets into some kind of divisional shootout, the Chargers will use all options abasing the red men of Arrowhead.

Christian Kirk Vs The 49ers

Kirk is hands down the best Wide Receiver in the Cardinals wideout room. Larry Fitz has passed the torch to the new kid on the block. Kirk has been serviceable as a WR3/Flex this season. Last week Kirk went ballistic abasing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bucs are the worst team in the league against opposing Wide Receivers. With the Cardinals run game in pieces right now and the Bucs having the best run defence in the league meant Kirk could go to town. Oh, boy did he. He tallied six catches for 138 yards and three touchdowns. it was the first time Kirk had made it into the red zone this year.

Kirk now takes on a 49ers defence that is coming off a close overtime loss to the Seahawks and will be looking to get back to winning ways. Two weeks ago the Cards and 9ers faced off and Kirk only managed 2.60 Fantasy points. Granted Kirk was on a short week that week and the 49ers defence is legit. That being said they are currently only allowing 13.2 FPPG to opposing wideouts. With the Cardinals run game up in the air, Kirk will once again be the man for Murray to target. The 49ers aren’t, however, the Bucs against Receivers and this matchup will be once again hard for Kirk. Whilst Kirk is still a Flex play this week, maybe try and find better options on your bench.

On a side note, the Lions are playing the Cowboys this week who is very good against the opposing Receivers. I couldn’t bring myself to add a Lions Receiver to the list this week. Cheers Marv.

Until next week, Keep Rushing
