Murf’s Mock Draft 2.0 – Chargers Trade Up

Well Rush Nation, I am back with my second of three Mock Drafts before the 2020 NFL Draft. This one will explore a few other scenarios that could play out in the draft. You can find my Mock Draft 1.0 here.

So without further ado, here is my Mock Draft 2.0

1) Cincinnati Bengals
Joe Burrow- QB LSU

Nothing changed here. It would be the shock of the NFL year if this isn’t the pick.

2) Washington Redskins
Chase Young- EDGE Ohio State

Again, nothing has changed here and I do not expect anything to change come Thursday night.

3) TRADE- Los Angeles Chargers
Tua Tagovailoa- QB Alabama

In a surprise move, the Chargers cough up a bounty of this year and next year picks to get ahead of the Dolphins and take Tua. The Dolphins appear comfortable with this move as they feel they will get a QB at good value. The Chargers do not appear concerned by Tua’s medical issues and feel he is the perfect pick for their offense moving forward.

4) New York Giants
Isaiah Simmons- LB Clemson

Again, whilst the team is crying out for Offensive Line help, they don’t feel they can turn down a player of the calibre of Simmons.

5) Miami Dolphins
Tristan Wirfs- OT Iowa

The Dolphins shock the world here and go Tackle to shore up what was a terrible O-Line last year. Wirfs is the Number 1 graded tackle in this class and is flexible to play RT or LT. As a result, he will be protecting the QB come start of the season. However, who will the QB be?

6) TRADE- Detroit Lions
Jeffrey Okudah- CB Ohio State

The Lions still get their man, and a boat load of picks to help with the rebuild. Okudah fills a massive position of need and allows the Lions to get some really good players in this draft.

7) Carolina Panthers
Derrick Brown- DT Auburn

The Panthers continue to build their trenches as they look to complete a rebuild. They might struggle in 2020 in a very stacked NFC South. However, they pick up a blue chip player who will be charged with stopping Kamara and Gurley a total of 4 times this season.

8) Arizona Cardinals
Jedrick Wills- OT Alabama

The Cardinals shore up their O-Line with a top Tackle prospect. Wills was dominant in the Alabama front 5 and protecting Tua Tagovailoa at RT. Whilst he won’t be protecting Murray, he can slot in at LT according to Nick Saben if needed.

 9) Jacksonville Jaguars
Javon Kinlaw- DT South Carolina

Jaguars make a change in this mock and fill the interior D-Line with an absolute unit of a player. He showed at the Senior Bowl just how disruptive he can be. A game change for a line that has been decimated this off-season with releases and trades.

10) TRADE- Dallas Cowboys
K’valon Chaisson- EDGE LSU

The Cowboys decide to make the move and get up to 10 to get their Edge Rusher. They have not replaced Robert Quinn and feel Chaisson will plug in that hole. So much so, they cough up a couple of picks to make it happen.

11) New York Jets
CeeDee Lamb- WR Oklahoma

The first WR comes off the board and it is Lamb that is the WR1. The Jets need to get weapons for Darnold and feel this investment should allow Darnold to kick on in his 3rd year in the league. that catch radius will give Darnold plenty of confidence.

12) Las Vegas Raiders
Jerry Jeudy- WR Alabama

This pick won’t feel like a consolation prize to the Raiders. They have Lamb and Jeudy as 1a and 1b for all intensive purposes. That separation and acceleration is what they thought they were getting from Antonio Brown last year. Instead, they have someone they can draft this year that will fill the hole.

13) TRADE- Denver Broncos
Henry Ruggs III- WR Alabama

With the two Wide Receivers coming off the board back to back, a panicked John Elway makes a call to John Lynch to secure the 13th pick for a couple of day 2 picks. John Lynch is the master of extracting value for just a tiny trade back. However Elway require a speedster in this offense and pay the price to get their man in Ruggs III.

14) Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Andrew Thomas- OT Georgia

The same as last time for the Buccaneers. With all the trades, they could stand pat and get their guy at 14. Thomas can play RT or LT and he will be an exciting addition to a Bucs O-line that could do with a refresh.

15) TRADE- San Francisco 49ers
Justin Jefferson- WR LSU

The 49ers trade back two and get some much needed Day 2 picks. Their reward is a classy route runner who will slot right in for Kyle Shanahan. A job well done by the front office here.

16) Atlanta Falcons
Yetur Gross Matos- EDGE Penn State

The Falcons would be devastated if this board turned out this way for them. However at least they still get a top 3 Edge Rusher in Gross-Matos who has great size and power. I’m sure the disappointment will be short lived.

17) TRADE- Cleveland Browns
Mekhi Beckton- OT Louisville

The Browns got a lot of value trading back and still get a potentially elite Left Tackle. Beckon might have had a ‘flagged’ drug test. However, it is his high ceiling that captivates the new Browns Front Office, who decide to take a risk, like they have done before, and turn in the card for Beckton.

18) TRADE- New England Patriots
Justin Herbert- QB Oregon

The Miami Dolphins do the unthinkable and trade their pick to the Patriots. However they make them pay with the 87th pick and a 2021 1st round pick. Bill Belichick loves his football intelligence and would love to get Herbert learning the system in what will be a challenging 2020 for the Patriots.

19) Las Vegas Raiders
C.J Henderson- QB Florida

Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock fill another position of need with another strong player. Henderson only falling down the board here due to circumstances. They will be delighted if this happens on Thursday.

20) Jacksonville Jaguars
Josh Jones- OT Houston

The 6 Foot 5, 319lbs Tackle will help protect Gardner Minshew II and bring some new blood into the o-line. Jacksonville continue to build from the trenches in this draft.

21) Philadelphia Eagles
Kristian Fulton- CB LSU

The Press Man corner out of LSU will certainly win a starting day job Week One if he plays like he did during his senior year at LSU. No doubt that other than a speedster to take the top off a defense, Cornerback is the biggest position of need for the Eagles.

22) Minnesota Vikings
Trevon Diggs- CB Alabama

Same position from my Mock Draft 1.0 but a different player. Diggs is being talked about highly and would make sense for the Vikings here at 22. Either way, they need a corner with one of these picks and one of Fulton, Gladney or Diggs would make complete sense here.

23) TRADE- Miami Dolphins
Xavier McKinney- S Alabama

I mocked McKinney to the Dolphins at 18 in my Mock Draft 1.0. So the fact he is still on the board here makes it a lock for me to pick him again to the Dolphins.

24) New Orleans Saints
Kenneth Murray- LB Oklahoma

Again, similar to the Vikings, it’s filling the same position of need with a different player. The Saints need an aggressive Linebacker who is going to attack the ball and have some versatility.

25) Minnesota Vikings
A.J Epenesa- Edge Iowa

Similar to their first pick at 22, I’ve gone down a similar route to my Mock Draft 1.0 but a different player. I really like Epenesa’s flexibility and extension of his hands. He’s going to be a great player in the NFL.

26) Miami Dolphins
Jake Fromm- QB Georgia

This will come as a shock for most people. However, Fromm has tools that have not really been utilised yet. He also has come across NFL ready talent and really held his own. However, the deciding factor in all this is that QB coaches love him and someone on the Dolphins staff has advocated for Jake Fromm in this mock.

27) TRADE- Indianapolis Colts
Jordan Love- QB Utah State

Same location as in the Mock Draft 1.0 but different spot. Love becomes the 5th QB off the board in round 1, which will shock a lot of the analysts. However, with that 5th year option, the Colts can afford to sit Love for a year and learn.

28) Baltimore Ravens
Patrick Queen- LB LSU

Biggest position of need for the Ravens and they will be running to the podium if Queen is still on the board. It’s a great pickup in their biggest position of need.

29) Tennessee Titans
Cesar Ruiz- IOL Michigan

The Titans continue to invest in the OL with the pick of Ruiz here. After paying Tannehill big-time money, they now need to protect their franchise QB. Ruiz has flexibility and has great technique to play a big role for the Titans.

30) Green Bay Packers
Denzel Mims- WR Baylor

The Packers have decided to go with Mims here. He has had a lot of coverage lately of being the best of the next tier of Wide Receiver. With the Packers needing another deep threat Wide Receiver for Rodgers to compliment Adams, Mims will certainly fill that role and prove useful in this offense.

31) TRADE- Miami Dolphins
D’Andre Swift- RB Georgia

The Dolphins become the first team since the 2000 Jets to have 4 1st round picks in a draft. They trade up at the cost of their 39th overall and 2 3rd round picks to acquire the rights to Swift, in order to get a 5th year option on him. He can do it all and will be an electric edition to the Dolphins.

32) Kansas City Chiefs
Jeff Gladney- CB TCU

I changed from Arnette to Gladney as I just think Gladney projects to be a better prospect (I took him much higher in my Mock Draft 1.0), as well as the facts the Chiefs have met with Gladney. In one of their two biggest positions of need, this seems like a match made in heaven between the Chiefs and Gladney.

That’s it for this Mock Draft 2.0 on Mock Draft Monday here @5yardrush. Please check out all of our content here, as well as my Mock Draft 3.0 which will be released Thursday Morning, and the UK NFL Fans Mock Draft 2.0 which is a full 7 round mock with no trades. However, until next time Rush Nation, Keep Rushing!
