Presidents Trophy – Playoff Quarter Final review

Bang, and just like that the quarter final matchups are over and we are another week closer to finding out which podcast will be the 1st ever Presidents Trophy champions.

Quarter Final Matchups

In true playoff drama, we had a game that went right down to 0.38 points to get a winner. USA’s ‘Mr America’ (Kevin Tompkins) went up against Europe’s captain ‘Team 5 Yard Rush’ (Stocks and Murf). The final score was 131.80-131.42 and was a huge shock as the 5 Yard Rush team Knocked out the highest seeded USA team and progress to the final 4. Mr America managed to win both regular season games against Team 5 Yard Rush but none of that matters now losing in the first round of the playoffs.

The second game was between two USA teams. This will mean that at least one USA team will make the Semifinal, but which team moved forward?
‘Captain America’ (The FTLS Boys) went up against fellow team member ‘JSnakeDFF (Jacob). Captain America made sure Team 5 Yard Rush weren’t the only captains making it through to the semifinals as they got a win over JSnake.

On the other side of the bracket we had two Europe teams facing each other, so like the USA team, Europe also knew they would have a team representing in the semifinal. This game saw ‘Marvellous McIlroy’ (Freddie ‘the franchise tag’ Hall) facing ‘AVFCJPS (James). This was a close battle and eventually AVFCJPS takes the win 190-183 which moves him into the semifinals

The final playoff game has USA’s ‘Mericaaaaaa F*** YEAAA’ (DrakePFSA) matching up against Europe’s ‘Roaring Poulter’ (PittsyNFL). This game was not even close and before the final Tuesday night game, MFY were a good 90 points ahead. A strong side in MFY moving into the semifinals as a disappointing second half of the season finished here for the Roaring Poulter.

Consolation bracket

A 50/50 split had 2 players from each team fighting it out for the consolation bracket.

Round one had USA’s ‘GoingFor2DotCom’ (Geoff) facing Team Europe’s ‘Benedict Arnold’ (Gary Haddow). This was a close battle with only 7 points between the two teams. GF2DCom got the job done to move into the final of the consolation bracket.

In the other game, Team USA’s ‘We Selected Scut Farkus’ (Shacknado – Brian) went head to head with Europe’s ‘JoshPattenden7’. A relatively easy win for WSSF means the consolation final will be an all USA affair and both Europe teams will finish in the bottom two places.

The points scored before we head to the playoffs

As no more points are awarded now until week 16, here is a recap of how things stand.
USA take a 6 point lead into the playoffs as the scores at the end of the regular season are Europe 33 – USA 39.
