SEC Week 2 Quick Snap
SEC Week 2 Quick Snap
Time for the The SEC Week 2 Quick Snap! Here’s a swift dive into the SEC Week Two slate to highlight some of those standout situations that you may want to keep an eye on:
Locking Longhorns
Bama face Texas for the first time in 12 years. Regardless of your affiliation, it’s the game of the week headline-wise. It’ll also be the first time we get to see what Quinn Ewers is really made of. After Will Anderson gets to home more than a few times it’s likely not to be bones anymore.
The General goes on his first road game to Fayetteville as the new mascot of the Gamecocks. If you ask me, “Cock Commander” was a much better choice for a nickname. On that decision alone I’m rooting Arkansas. Well that, and also Sam Pittman. Easily one of the most likeable coaches in America right now. Watching Raheim Sanders improve his draft stock (hopefully) will also be fun.
Vandy go away to Wake for Sam Hartman’s first game back. It was thought that Hartman might be out for the year with undisclosed medical issues but Wake announced his return this week. This is awesome. For him, Wake, and college football. Vandy also know how to score now, so be prepared for a 55-53 type game. If it’s anything like UNC @ App last weekend it’ll be a riot.
Mizzou host K-State in what could be a sneaky good game. Luther Burden is insanely fun to watch on the outside for Mizzou. As is Duece Vaughn for the Wildcats.
An Upset on the Cards?
App State host Texas A&M in a potential upset game for the Aggies. Although, after watching their defense last weekend, Jimbo’s team should win big providing they get a few stops on defence. Weird things happen in Boone NC though. Don’t be surprised if this is close in the 4th.
Tennessee host Pitt in what will probably be a chaotic game in typical Vols & Panthers fashion. Slovis v Hooker? Sign me up! This Vols team might not be great, but boy are they fun. Slovis had an ok game against WVA last week. If he struggles here, expect his draft stock to take a crypto-like tumble.
Sam Houston St should just fake covid after watching Georgia against Oregon last week. The multi million pound payout isn’t worth it if your players all need surgery. Nothing to see here, just the Dawgs rolling huge!
Conference Watch
In our only SEC conference ranked matchup the Kentucky Wildcats host the Florida Gators. If you didn’t watch Anthony Richardson make ridiculous plays against Utah last weekend, you need to tune in. The guy is already giving me Cam Newton vibes in the type of way you hope a sapling grows into a tree. Minus the theft of computer equipment though.
Kiffin’s Ole Miss travel to Central Arkansas for a Jackson Dart showcase game. Or, at least it should be.
Auburn face Penn State next weekend so don’t expect anything other than basic offence from the Tigers. SJSU only beat Portland state 21-17 so look for Tank Bigsby to put on a show as Harsin’s guys move to 2-0.
A get right game for LSU against Southern. God help Brian Kelly if they do anything but win by 35 points. Whether Kayshon Boutte, widely considered as the WR1 for the 2023 draft, is playing will be the only interesting point here. If he isn’t, it’s a bad sign for Kelly’s grip on the locker room.
Mississippi State host Arizona. Mike Leach will probably use some kind of weird anecdote in his presser which will be far more interesting than the game.
