Start ‘Em / Sit ‘Em Week 2
It was great to have football back in our lives and it certainly did not disappoint. I’m sure it was made even sweeter if you managed to secured ‘the dub’ and if not, don’t panic because this is a marathon and not a sprint. Let’s waste no more time and dive straight into the Week Two Start ‘Em / Sit ‘Em!
Starts and Sits Week 2 Quarterbacks
My top-ranked Quarterbacks for Week 2 are:
- Allen vs TEN
- Mahomes vs LAC
- Herbert @ KC
- Wilson vs Hou
- Jackson vs MIA
Start QB 1- D. Carr vs ARI
Carr didn’t have the week 1 that some were expecting but what was very evident was the connection with Davante Adams. The Cardinals gave up five touchdowns last week and I expect Carr to put up decent numbers in week two.
Start QB 2- T. Lance vs SEA
I’m coming back to this well, who knew the heavens would open up like they did. I imagine Lance will not face tougher conditions all year. 13 rush attempts were encouraging and we expect more of this all season long.
Sit QB 1- B. Mayfield @ NYG
Don’t be fooled by his 18 fantasy points in week 1, if you started him you were saved by a rushing touchdown which you definitely can not bank on every week. At this stage of the season last year’s stats are what we have to work with, and the Giants have been very stingy in giving up big fantasy days to opposing quarterbacks.
Sit QB 2- M. Mariota @ LAR
Mariota rushed well last week and scored a respectable 19 fantasy points. He had 72 rushing yards, I doubt very much that the Rams D line will allow this to happen in week 2.
Starts and Sits Week 2 Running Backs
My top-ranked Running Backs for Week 2 are:
- Taylor @ JAX
- Barkley vs CAR
- McCaffrey @ NYG
- Ekeler @ KC
- Swift vs WAS
Start RB 1- A. Gibson @ DET
Gibson was given the opportunity to showcase why he should still have a say in this backfield when Robinson is back fit and well. He racked up 130 yards and had eight targets. Whilst Robinson is out I feel you can count on Gibson.
Start RB 2- J. Conner @ LV
Conner had 10 rushing attempts, a touchdown and 5 receptions off 6 targets. He has a similar strength matchup in week 2, feel confident in starting him as an RB 2.
Start RB 3- K. Hunt vs NYJ
Different season but same old production from the Browns 1-2 punch in the backfield. Whilst Hunt does play second fiddle to Chubb, he continues to have stand alone value. He will be a solid flex with RB 2 upside.
Sit RB 1- C. Akers vs ATL
Akers had only 3 touches in week 1. Henderson was the Rams starter and until we see something change, we have to sit Akers.
Sit RB 2- Z. Elliott @ CIN
Zeke looked very good against the Buccs, he was averaging 5.2 per carry. K. Moore, the Cowboys offensive play caller just will not run the ball even when it’s the right thing to do. The bad news for Elliott is that the o line is depleted, and he has lost Dak for a number of weeks.
Sit RB 3- D. Pierce @ DEN
The hype train had its breaks pumped in week one thanks to Rex Burkhead’s lead role in the Texans backfield. It seems that Pierce will not be unlocked and that he will have to prove over time that he can be trusted to feature as the main man.
Starts and Sits Week 2 Wide Receivers
My top-ranked Wide Receivers for Week 2 are:
- Jefferson @ PHI
- Kupp vs ATL
- Adams vs ARI
- Diggs vs TEN
- Pittman @ JAX
Start WR 1- C. Sutton vs HOU
It Was J. Juedy who had the most success in week 1 but Sutton looked very good. He will face the Texans DB’s in week 2 and I have him and a WR1.
Start WR 2- A. Thielan @ PHI
Thielan kicked off his 2022 campaign with a poor 6.6 fantasy points but he faces the Eagles this week in what I think will a high scoring affair. He is a WR3 and a touchdown could elevate him to a WR2.
Start WR 3- M. Williams @ KC
Don’t panic! Forget week one, you can trust in Mike Williams this week. K. Allen is out for this matchup against the Chiefs and I fancy Williams to return a top 10 WR performance.
Sit WR 1- T. Lockett vs SF
Smith will not be able to support two wide receivers in my opinion. In week one Lockett had a poor game and Geno looked decent. I have Sutton down to have a big game and Lockett way down there as the wide receiver 43.
Sit WR 2- R. Woods @ BUF
Woods had a quite week 1 and he is up against a tough Bills defense that isn’t giving much away to the wide receiver position. Sit and move on.
Sit WR 3 – R. Anderson @ NYG
Do not chase his week one performance, he should return to his usual flex status in week 2. He faces a stout Giants defense that is holding up well against the wide out position. I have him as WR 52.
Starts and Sits Week 2 Tight Ends
My top-ranked Tight Ends for Week 2 are:
- Kelce vs LAC
- Andrews vs MIA
- Waller vs ARI
- Hockenson vs WAS
- Pitts @ LAR
Start TE 1- P. Freiermuth @ NE
He is rarely going to end a week as the number Tight End but you can rely on him to bag you 7 to 12 fantasy points. Whilst that may not seem like a lot, for a fantasy TE it really is. In week one he scored a decent 12.5 fantasy points and I project him to reach 10 fantasy points (PPR)
Start TE 2- T. Higbee vs ATL
Higbee saw 11 targets last week and this volume is likely to carry over to week 2. I have him as my TE 13 but a touchdown would elevate him to a TE1 on the week.
Sit TE 1- N. Fant @ SF
Fant is way down there as a receiving option on the Seattle roster and Seattle face a brutal defense against the TE position. Sit and move on.
Sit TE 2- M. Alie-Cox @ JAX
I see the Colts controlling this game and becoming very run heavy in the second half. Alie-Cox snagged both of his receptions in week one for 26 yards and I project this to be a similar outcome in week 2.
