The Injury Files: Week 7
What is going on, Rush Nation? Welcome back to “The Injury Files”. Week seven is upon us and it’s another busy one on the Injury front. As well as a treacherous bye week, including some of the biggest hitters in Fantasy Football. Stacey’s waiver article from Monday will have you covered with replacements. Let’s kick this week off looking back at the game from last night.
Michael Thomas and Jarvis Landry were again ruled out for the Saints. On the road this week, visiting the Cardinals they did have Jameis Winston available(although he didn’t play) and Chris Olave had cleared concussion protocol in time for the game. James Conner was a game time decision but in the end didn’t play. Marquise “Hollywood” Brown, who the Cardinals gave a first round pick for during the NFL Draft this off season, will be out for four to six weeks. He’s chipped a bone in his foot and the return of DeAndre Hopkins from suspension could not have come at a better time.
Quarterback
Tua Tagovailoa was not on the Dolphins injury report this week. He will return this Sunday vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers at Hard Rock. Mac Jones suffered a high ankle sprain in week 3 vs. Ravens. ESPN’s Mike Reiss said, “New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones expects to be available for the team’s Monday Night Football game against the visiting Chicago Bears”. Keep an eye for any setbacks in practice later this week and try to have a back up plan.
Dak Prescott has been logging full participation all week for the Cowboys. He injured his thumb early in the year but is expected to take the reigns back from Cooper Rush this weekend. Kenny Pickett visit’s Tua and the Dolphins in Sunday night football this week. He has cleared concussion protocol. Should Mike Tomlin choose him over Mitch Trubisky, he will be good to go.
Running Back
Jonathan Taylor(ankle) the consensus 1.01 in 1QB redraft leagues has missed the last two weeks. He was limited Wednesday but logged a full session on Thursday. The former Wisconsin rusher should return Sunday. D’Andre Swift, who has been dealing with two separate issues in his ankle and Shoulder was limited on Wednesday and Thursday. He should be well rested after coming off the bye. When asked he said he’s “definitely going in the right direction” to play vs. the Cowboys. After missing week’s four and five.
J.K Dobbins coming off a full year out and wasn’t rushed back by the Ravens, is banged up again. He hasn’t practised so far this week, with his knee being the problem. He left last week’s match-up early. Wouldn’t surprise me if he misses week seven. Another guy who missed basically all last year, Raheem Mostert, has found a new lease of life in Miami. He was limited Wednesday with a knee issue but trained in full on Thursday. He had surgery to repair cartilage in his knee back in 2021.
Wide Receiver
Keenan Allen’s hamstring is still bothering him. He’s not played since week 1 and was limited Wednesday. Miami is another team with multiple injuries and star wideout Jaylen Waddle, hurt his shoulder in week six vs. Minnesota. He was also limited Wednesday and Thursday this week. Hunter Renfrow flagged up on the Thursday injury report out of Las Vegas. He did not participate due to a hip injury. Renfrow missed a couple weeks already this year, with a concussion.
Rashod Bateman(foot) is yet another Raven player dealing with an issue. He’s been limited in practice so far this week. As was CeeDee Lamb on Wednesday, who’s dealing with a Hip injury. Lamb was logged as a full participant Thursday. Great news for Fantasy shareholders. Dak could really do with his favourite weapon, on his return to action this week.
Tight End
Darren Waller did not participate Wednesday or Thursday. A hamstring issue forced him to leave week five vs Kansas City in the 1st half. He is coming off a bye week, so could still play, although I’d definitely have a plan B in place. Dalton Schultz(knee) was a late rule out on Sunday Night Football vs Eagles last week. Schultz’ knee issue has been a lingering problem but was a full participant so far this week.
Pat Freiermuth(concussion) was also a full participant in both sessions this week and looks to come back from the protocol to a peachy match-up with the Dolphins on Sunday night. Mark Andrews was a shock addition to the Baltimore Injury report. He didn’t practise Wednesday or Thursday and after Lamar was limited himself on Wednesday, John Harbaugh will be hoping his star duo are ready for this weekend’s divisional game vs. the Cleveland Browns.
Don’t forget to catch Fast Action Friday at 6pm this evening. Myself and Rob will update you with any extra information we’ve got on the injury front, then. That’s it for week seven, until next week, keep rushing.
